Maggie Valley, NC
My first “real” lunch on the trip; Apple Andy’s in Maggie Valley. Up till now, I have had to push a bit each day, so lunch was usually a bag of trail mix and a drink. Since I have time to spare I figured I would sit down and enjoy! This place was recommended by one of the shop owners at Market Place. Have been chatting with the waitress, Kat, and getting the scoop on best places for dinner. She even sat down at my table and asked what brought me to Maggie. People aren’t afraid to take the time to chat – (everywhere I’ve been on this trip folks have all been that way). The owner took the time to come out of the kitchen and make sure I liked the food. I almost felt like some sort of celebrity. Before leaving, I chatted with an older couple who had just sat down with their Labradoodle. And, as I was getting ready to hop on The X, a father and daughter on bikes pulled in and I chatted with them a bit (he had actually owned 3 VTX’s). Finally, as I was riding away, I noticed Kat standing on the porch waving goodbye. I love this southern hospitality! It tends to bring out the best in me.
