Christiansburg, VA

Tonight I’m trying my luck at a Super 8 in Christiansburg, VA. It doesn’t look like much on the outside but it is actually quite nice on the inside. The only obvious shortcoming of the room is the number of available electrical outlets. As a matter of fact there aren’t even enough outlets to power all the lamps, refrigerator, tv, microwave, air conditioner, hair dryer, etc. So, I have to unplug some things in order to charge my devices and power my CPAP machine for the night. Still, $57.15 seems quite reasonable for a clean room. I read last year that Wyndham, who now own Super 8, has been renovating many of them. Although the onsite restaurant is not in operation, the motel does have a free continental breakfast just off the lobby.

For dinner, I went about a mile down the road and got carry out from Due South BBQ. The food was quite filling and tasty. Got a giant pulled pork sandwich, fried green ‘maters, Mac-n-cheese, and corn hush puppies. $11.27.
